ASIC Engineer, EDA Infrastructure

Role Summary

Join Meta's Infrastructure ASIC organization to develop and maintain EDA flows, automation, and infrastructure supporting SoC and IP development for data center applications. The role focuses on building, improving, and operating RTL-to-GDS toolchains, internal automation, and compute/storage/job-scheduling integrations.

Experience Level

Mid-level — requires 5+ years of relevant experience with EDA tools, ASIC flows, and scripting/automation.

Responsibilities

Technical responsibilities include developing and supporting EDA flows, tools, and infrastructure for ASIC design cycles and collaborating with internal teams and vendors.

• Develop and support front-end implementation flows.
• Develop and support physical-design implementation flows.
• Maintain and improve RTL-to-GDSII flows.
• Build internal automation and tools (e.g., RTL generation, memory selection automation, register generation, filelist generation).
• Evaluate and adopt new EDA tools and features in collaboration with EDA vendors.
• Manage EDA license requests, installations, forecasting, and tool maintenance.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on compute grid, storage management, and job-scheduling architecture and efficiency.
• Integrate ASIC toolchains with source control, continuous integration, data management, and reporting systems.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for day-one impact; preferred items listed separately.

• Knowledge of front-end and back-end ASIC tools and flows.
• Practical experience with RTL design using SystemVerilog or another HDL.
• 5+ years working with EDA tools and scripting languages (Python, Tcl) to build tools and flows in complex environments.
• Experience managing and supporting ASIC EDA infrastructure (compute, storage, job scheduling).
• Experience developing and supporting solutions for ASIC design environments and infrastructure.
• Proven ability to communicate and coordinate across internal teams and with external vendors.
• Nice-to-have: experience setting up EDA infrastructure from scratch; designing tools and workflows focused on usability and end-user productivity.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
