Job Title

ASIC Emulation Engineer

Role Summary

Join AMD's Network Technologies Solutions Group to lead emulation of complex networking subsystems and SoCs on hardware emulation platforms. The role focuses on defining emulation strategy, building scalable environments, enabling hardware-software co-verification, and validating functional and performance goals prior to silicon.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The role requires substantial hands-on experience with emulation platforms and system-level debug; specific years of experience are not specified.

Responsibilities

Deliver emulation solutions and validation for networking and I/O subsystems across hardware, firmware, and software.

  • Define emulation architecture and strategy for networking IP, subsystems, and SoCs.
  • Bring up and deploy designs on ZeBu, Veloce, Palladium, or equivalent platforms; develop reusable environments and transactors.
  • Enable firmware boot, driver development, OS bring-up, and system-level workloads before silicon.
  • Validate networking and I/O subsystems (Ethernet, PCIe, DMA, RDMA, packet processing, traffic management) for throughput, latency, QoS, and congestion.
  • Execute long-running workloads and performance use cases impractical in RTL simulation.
  • Debug complex issues across RTL, emulation infrastructure, firmware, drivers, and software stacks; drive regression health and validation closure.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, DV, firmware, software, FPGA, and silicon-validation teams; mentor engineers and provide technical leadership.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and platform experience to perform emulation, debug, and co-verification activities.

  • Hands-on experience with ZeBu, Veloce, Palladium, or equivalent hardware emulation platforms.
  • Strong debug skills spanning RTL, firmware, software, and system-level interactions.
  • Experience developing transactors, emulation environments, and enabling hardware-software co-verification.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Python, Tcl, Shell, or equivalent scripting languages.
  • Proven ability to take large designs from RTL handoff through compilation, bring-up, workload enablement, regression, and verification closure.
  • Ability to execute performance validation and long-running system use cases; diagnose throughput and latency issues.
  • Effective cross-team collaboration and experience mentoring or leading engineers on technical projects.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with high-speed Ethernet, RDMA/RoCE, PCIe Gen5/Gen6, packet-processing pipelines, switch fabrics, traffic managers, QoS architectures, silicon bring-up, diagnostics, or post-silicon debug.
  • Deep expertise in one emulation platform and strong system-level debug skills are preferred over broad but shallow platform exposure.
  • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; relevant industry experience is expected.
