SynopsysJob Title
ASIC Digital Design, Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Staff-level digital ASIC engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering complex digital blocks for ASIC projects. Works closely with verification, synthesis, physical design, and system teams to meet timing, area, and power targets.
Expected to drive technical decisions, debug silicon issues, and mentor junior engineers.
Experience Level
Senior β staff-level role. Typical experience: 7+ years in digital ASIC design or equivalent engineering experience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on end-to-end digital design and delivery. Key responsibilities include:
- Architect, design, and implement RTL (SystemVerilog/Verilog) for digital ASIC blocks.
- Collaborate with verification and validation teams to ensure functional correctness.
- Prepare and guide synthesis, timing closure, and implementation activities.
- Analyze timing reports, resolve setup/hold violations, and optimize for area/power.
- Debug pre-silicon and post-silicon issues and support bring-up activities.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers on best practices.
- Interface with cross-functional teams (physical design, CAD/EDA, software) to integrate blocks.
Requirements
Concise list of required and preferred skills.
- Must-have: Strong RTL design experience in Verilog/SystemVerilog for ASICs; demonstrated experience with synthesis and timing closure workflows.
- Must-have: Practical experience using EDA tools for synthesis, static timing analysis, and linting; ability to read and act on timing reports.
- Must-have: Practical problem-solving and debugging experience for pre-silicon and silicon-level issues.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with low-power design techniques, formal verification, or physical implementation awareness.
