Responsibilities
Primary duties typically expected for this role include:
- Architect, specify, and implement RTL for ASIC/SoC digital blocks.
- Drive synthesis, timing closure, and design-for-test flows in coordination with EDA/physical-design teams.
- Define and enforce coding, linting, and design-review standards.
- Partner with verification and bring-up teams to resolve silicon issues and close functional gaps.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers; lead technical reviews and design planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architects, firmware, validation) to meet product schedules and quality targets.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills expected for a principal ASIC digital design engineer.
- Proven experience in digital ASIC/SoC design and RTL development (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
- Experience with synthesis, static timing analysis, timing closure, and implementation constraints.
- Familiarity with common EDA tools and flows used for synthesis, STA, and linting.
- Strong debugging skills for pre-silicon and silicon bring-up issues and clear technical communication.
- Experience leading technical teams or design projects and performing design reviews.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of low-power design techniques, high-speed interfaces, or specific IP blocks (e.g., CPUs, interconnects, SERDES).
- Previous tape-out experience and cross-team project leadership on complex SoC projects.
