ASIC DFT STA Engineer
Cisco SystemsJob Title
ASIC DFT STA Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Silicon One ASIC development team as a Static Timing Analysis (STA) engineer focused on Design-for-Test (DFT) and timing signoff. The role leads timing constraint development and verification across implementation and post-silicon validation for networking ASICs.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience guidance: Bachelor's + 7 years, Master's + 4 years, or PhD + 1 year of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Work with design, verification, and DFT teams to deliver timing-closed, testable ASIC implementations.
- Develop and verify timing constraints (SDC) and clocking schemes, including clock groups, exceptions, and clock exclusivity.
- Perform STA signoff and timing analysis across implementation flow using industry tools.
- Drive DFT-related timing closure (scan shift/capture, BIST) and analyze timing impact of DFT modes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate timing issues and recommend fixes.
- Support post-silicon timing validation and debug activities.
- Automate flows and reports using scripting to integrate STA and DFT processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed below.
- Must-have: Prior experience with RTL design, CDC/RDC analysis and formal/conformal verification.
- Must-have: Practical experience developing and verifying SDC timing constraints and performing timing verification.
- Must-have: Programming/scripting experience in at least two of: Perl, Tcl, Python, Makefile.
- Nice-to-have: Experience debugging PCIe timing, TSMC memory timing, and DFT mode timing closure.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with STA and SDC debugging tools (e.g., Synopsys TCM, PrimeTime) and synthesis tools (e.g., Synopsys Fusion/Design Compiler).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Tessent or other DFT insertion/tool flows.
Education Requirements
Degree and experience combinations are specified: Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of related experience, Master's degree plus 4 years, or PhD plus 1 year. Preferred profile notes a Master's with ~10 years. Equivalent practical experience is implied by the degree+experience format.
