ASIC DFT Engineer II
Cisco SystemsJob Title
ASIC DFT Engineer II
Role Summary
Work on Design-for-Test (DFT) for ASICs within Cisco's Silicon One team, supporting hardware platforms for switching, routing, and wireless products. The role focuses on implementing test logic, generating test patterns, and validating testability across design and physical implementation stages.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical background: 2+ years of relevant ASIC/DFT experience. Note: the role also accepts candidates with a Master's degree and no prior experience as specified by the employer.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing and validating DFT features and supporting test integration across teams.
- Implement hardware DFT features for ATE, in-system test, debug, and diagnostics.
- Develop and improve automation scripts to increase implementation efficiency.
- Integrate test logic with Design, Design Verification, and Physical Design teams.
- Validate test timing and logic equivalency using SystemVerilog.
- Use ATPG and EDA tools to generate and analyze test patterns.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience.
- Foundational knowledge of JTAG protocols, scan architectures, and Built-In Self-Test (BIST).
- Experience with ATPG and other EDA tools for test pattern generation and analysis.
- Scripting skills in Python, Tcl, or Perl for automation and tooling.
- Practical verification skills: SystemVerilog and logic equivalency checking.
- Experience with gate-level simulation and debugging (e.g., VCS).
- Understanding of VLSI circuit behavior and basic timing concepts; familiarity with Test Static Timing Analysis.
- Exposure to post-silicon validation using DFT patterns is desirable.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Education Requirements
Master's degree (0 years experience) or Bachelor's degree (2 years experience) in ASIC engineering or a related field, as specified by the employer.
