ASIC Design Verification Engineering Leader
Cisco SystemsJob Title
ASIC Design Verification Engineering Leader
Role Summary
Lead architecture and development of design verification (DV) infrastructure for complex ASICs and SoCs used in data center products. Work across block, cluster, and top-level environments and coordinate with design, emulation, firmware, and software teams to achieve functional coverage and silicon quality.
One short motivating note: contribute to next-generation data center platforms by delivering robust verification infrastructure and leading cross-functional bring-up activities.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience guidance in the source indicates multi-year senior experience (e.g., ~12+ years depending on degree and background).
Responsibilities
Primary technical and leadership responsibilities include:
- Architect and implement DV infrastructure across block, cluster, and top-level environments.
- Drive verification strategies to maximize functional coverage and reduce risk for complex silicon.
- Collaborate with RTL design, emulation, firmware, and software teams to debug and resolve cross-domain issues.
- Lead hands-on ASIC bring-up and post-silicon lab activities when required.
- Mentor and guide verification engineers; lead verification for major subsystems or entire SoC/ASIC projects.
- Integrate verification flows with emulation and formal tools; oversee automation and scripting for efficient DV cycles.
Requirements
Key must-have and preferred technical skills and experience.
- Must-have: Recent practical experience with Verilog, SystemVerilog, and UVM (within the last few years).
- Must-have: Hands-on ASIC design and verification process experience, including debugging, methodology, and tools.
- Must-have: Experience verifying blocks, clusters, or full-chip level for ASICs.
- Must-have: Scripting experience (Perl or Python) for automation and debug tasks.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Linux, C/C++, additional scripting (Python), and emulation platforms (Veloce, Palladium, Zebu, HAPS).
- Nice-to-have: Post-silicon lab bring-up, formal verification tools (e.g., JasperGold), and protocol domain expertise (PCIe, Ethernet, RDMA, TCP, Fiber Channel).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with AI coding assistants or agents and exposure to forwarding logic, parsers, or P4.
Education Requirements
Typical qualifications listed: Bachelor's degree plus ~12 years' related experience, or Master's plus ~8 years, or PhD plus ~5 years. The posting allows educationally-equivalent experience combinations. Specific fields of study were not specified; no certifications were required.
