ASIC Design Verification Engineer (up to Sr. Staff)
QualcommJob Title
ASIC Design Verification Engineer (up to Sr. Staff)
Role Summary
Verify Ethernet switching/networking ASICs by developing verification environments and test cases across module, subsystem, and system levels. Collaborate with architecture and design teams, support pre- and post-silicon debug, and mentor junior engineers.
Experience Level
Level: Senior. Typical experience range: 2β15 years in ASIC verification. Minimum experience expectations depend on degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include verification development, cross-functional coordination, and silicon debug support.
- Design and implement SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches and test cases for module, subsystem, and system verification.
- Define and execute coverage-driven verification plans; use SVA assertions.
- Perform emulation/FPGA validation and support bring-up of verification platforms.
- Collaborate with Architecture and RTL Design teams on micro-architecture, test plans, and verification closure.
- Provide pre-silicon and post-silicon debug support alongside Design and VI teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote verification best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and preferred qualifications.
- Must-have: Hands-on ASIC verification experience using SystemVerilog and UVM, SVA, and coverage-driven methodology.
- Must-have: Experience with Ethernet switching/networking ASICs, including packet classification/forwarding pipelines, buffer management, and QoS mechanisms.
- Must-have: Protocol knowledge: Ethernet, VLAN, TCP/IP, tunneling, TSN, and related networking protocols; familiarity with L2/L3 forwarding, bridging, and routing.
- Must-have: Strong debugging and system-level problem-solving skills; experience supporting pre- and post-silicon debug.
- Preferred: Emulation and FPGA validation experience; familiarity with merchant silicon (Broadcom, Marvell, Realtek, MTK) is desirable.
- Preferred: Scripting and programming skills (C/C++, Tcl, Perl).
- Must-have: Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills; fluent in Chinese and English (verbal and written).
- Must-have: Ability to work under pressure and meet tight schedules.
Education Requirements
Degrees: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting notes MS/BS in EE (MS preferred). Minimum experience mapping: Bachelor's +6 years, Master's +5 years, PhD +4 years. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable per the minimum-qualification mappings.
