Job Title

ASIC Design Verification Engineer II

Role Summary

Work on Silicon One ASIC verification within Cisco's silicon and hardware platforms team. Collaborate with verification engineers, designers, hardware and cross-functional teams to verify ASICs in simulation, emulation, and during bring-up.

Primary mission: develop and maintain DV environments and testbenches to ensure functional correctness and verification closure for ASIC blocks and SoCs.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Engineer II). Typical candidates have around 2+ years of relevant ASIC verification experience; a Master's with no prior experience is also an acceptable qualification (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Verify ASIC blocks and clusters through simulation, emulation, and bring-up; maintain and extend verification environments.

  • Maintain and enhance existing DV environments and regression suites.
  • Construct testbenches: scoreboards, agents, sequencers, and monitors for new blocks.
  • Write test plans, develop test cases, run regressions, debug failures and drive module verification to closure.
  • Implement and review functional and code coverage to meet verification goals.
  • Collaborate with designers, hardware and cross-functional teams during integration and ASIC bring-up.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical verification experience. Preferred items listed as "nice-to-have."

  • Proficiency with SystemVerilog and UVM methodology.
  • Scripting experience in Perl and/or Python.
  • Experience with functional coverage and constrained-random verification.
  • Experience verifying complex blocks, clusters, or top-level SoC designs.
  • Ability to debug regression failures and drive verification to closure.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with emulation platforms (Veloce, HAPS) and building DV environments from scratch.

Education Requirements

Either a Masters degree (completed within the past 3 years or expected within 12 months) with 0 years of work experience, or a Bachelors degree with about 2 years of work experience. Qualifying education and work experience should be in ASIC engineering, verification, or a related technical field.
