ASIC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Verify functional correctness and performance of AI inference ASICs by developing verification strategies, test plans, and SystemVerilog UVM environments. Collaborate with design, architecture, FPGA/emulation, and validation teams to achieve coverage-driven verification and reliable silicon bring-up.
Hybrid role based in Austin, TX, focused on pre-silicon and post-silicon validation of complex accelerator chips.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 8+ years of ASIC verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute verification strategies and comprehensive test plans for AI inference ASICs.
- Design, implement, and maintain SystemVerilog UVM verification environments and simulation testbenches.
- Create directed and constrained-random tests; drive coverage-driven verification and closure.
- Collaborate with design and architecture teams to identify and close functional gaps.
- Debug design issues and perform root-cause analysis in pre-silicon and post-silicon validation.
- Work with FPGA and emulation teams for early hardware validation.
- Manage verification schedules, deliverables, and risk mitigation plans.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 8+ years of ASIC verification experience.
- Expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Experience with industry-standard EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics).
- Proven testbench development, verification planning, and coverage methodologies.
- Proficiency with debugging tools, waveform analysis, and scripting (Python, Perl, or TCL).
- Familiarity with AI/ML accelerators, memory subsystems, and high-speed interconnects.
- Experience with FPGA/emulation-based validation and post-silicon bring-up.
Nice-to-have:
- Hardware-software co-verification experience.
- Knowledge of formal verification techniques.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required. An advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant field is listed as a plus.
