Job Title

ASIC Design Engineer – Pixel IP

Role Summary

Work on Apple's Pixel IP team within Hardware Technologies to design digital signal-processing pipelines for image and video capture and display. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, power- and area-efficient RTL and micro-architectures for SoCs used in Apple products.

Collaborate with architecture, verification, synthesis, and implementation teams to meet performance, power, and area targets for production silicon.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No explicit years-of-experience requirement provided.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include architecture-to-RTL delivery and cross-team integration for pixel-related IP.

  • Design high-quality RTL with embedded assertions and coverage points.
  • Write micro-architectural specifications and translate architecture into RTL.
  • Collaborate with system architects, verification, and implementation teams to optimize performance and minimize power and area.
  • Synthesize designs and perform power, timing, and area optimization.
  • Work with design verification and formal teams to debug and verify functionality and performance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and competencies for the role.

  • Front-end ASIC RTL digital logic design experience using Verilog or SystemVerilog.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and fundamentals in computer architecture (finite state machines, pipelining).
  • Experience collaborating effectively across engineering teams; strong written and verbal communication.
  • Familiarity with on-chip bus protocols such as AMBA (AXI, AHB, APB).
  • Knowledge of synthesis flows and timing/area/power analysis and optimization.
  • Experience with scripting languages for automation (Python, Perl, TCL).
  • Nice-to-have: experience with High-Level Synthesis and hardware design using SystemC/C++.
  • Nice-to-have: background in digital signal processing concepts.

Education Requirements
