Job Title

ASIC Design Engineer - New College Grad 2026

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA's Memory Subsystem Design team to design and deliver memory and interconnect components within a system-on-chip. The role focuses on micro-architecture, RTL design, synthesis, and timing analysis while collaborating closely with architecture, verification (design/formal), and physical design teams.

This is an entry-level position for new college graduates; work emphasizes high-performance, low-latency memory/interconnect solutions and use of modern CAD tools and process technologies.

Experience Level

Entry-level (New college graduate; 2026). No specific years of prior professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, and cross-team integration of memory/interconnect IP.

  • Define and implement micro-architecture for memory subsystem components.
  • Write and maintain RTL (Verilog or VHDL); participate in synthesis and timing closure activities.
  • Perform timing analysis and optimize for area, latency, power, bandwidth, and QoS requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, design verification, formal verification, and physical design teams to integrate and validate designs.
  • Work with multiple clock domains and asynchronous interfaces; support system-level coherency features and protocol bridging.
  • Use CAD tools and current process technologies to implement and verify designs.

Requirements

Required and preferred technical skills and experience.

  • Must-have: Strong proficiency in Verilog or VHDL.
  • Must-have: Experience with scripting (e.g., Perl) for automation and tool flows.
  • Must-have: Experience or academic exposure to multiple clock domains and asynchronous interfaces.
  • Must-have: Exposure to high-speed coherent interconnects, protocol bridges, hardware-managed coherency, or system-level caches (academic projects or internships acceptable for new grads).
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of industry protocols/specifications such as CHI, CXL, or PCIe.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing or recently completed a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical degree; or equivalent practical experience.
