Job Title
ASIC Design Engineer – Fabric/Interconnect
Role Summary
Design and implement interconnect fabric and memory-hierarchy blocks for SoC subsystems. Responsible for RTL development, integration of coherent and non-coherent fabrics, and ensuring timing, power, and functional quality through collaboration with synthesis/STA, power/performance, and verification teams.
Work spans architecture through RTL delivery and requires coordination with multiple engineering groups to meet tapeout schedules.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
The engineer will own RTL for fabric/interconnect blocks and coordinate cross-team integration and delivery.
- Design and integrate coherent and non-coherent interconnect fabrics into subsystems/SoCs.
- Develop and maintain RTL, templates, and generation scripts for interconnect blocks.
- Implement on-chip interconnect architectures (NoC topologies, crossbars, arbitration).
- Integrate shared IP and optimize memories and hard macros required by the block.
- Collaborate with front-end synthesis and static timing analysis teams to meet timing.
- Work with power/performance and functional verification teams to ensure block quality.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary groups to meet schedules and incorporate design checks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
-
Must-have: Deep knowledge of interconnect fabrics and system memory hierarchy; experience with NoC topologies, crossbars, and arbitration.
-
Must-have: Strong RTL development skills, including templating, scripting, and RTL generation.
-
Must-have: Experience integrating shared IP, memories, and hard macros into SoC blocks.
-
Must-have: Experience collaborating with synthesis/STA, power/performance, and verification teams.
-
Must-have: Proven ability to coordinate across teams to deliver high-quality designs on schedule.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with SoC tapeouts and complex subsystem integration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS) required plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
