Job Title
Architecture Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Work within Arm's Architecture and Technology Group to develop and execute low-level tests, automation, and debug flows that validate CPU architecture behavior across implementations. The role supports architecture modelling, feasibility studies, and compliance verification.
Collaborate with architects and verification teams to design verification strategies, develop reusable test infrastructure, and analyze results to inform architecture decisions.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 3β6 years of engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Analyze architecture definitions and develop verification strategies and experiments.
- Design and implement verification test cases in assembly, C, HVL, or higher-level languages.
- Develop architecture compliance tests to validate CPU behavior, features, low-level execution flows, and system-level scenarios.
- Create automation, test-generation scripts, execution and result-analysis tooling, and reusable test infrastructure.
- Perform low-level debugging, root-cause analysis, and communicate findings to architects and implementers.
- Contribute to test harnesses and integration for bare-metal validation and platform-level scenarios.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 3β6 years of engineering experience; CPU or complex IP verification experience is a plus.
- Proficient in C and assembly for low-level test and firmware-like software development.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills for architecture compliance, CPU behavior, and low-level execution issues.
- Experience with scripting and automation for test generation, execution, and result analysis.
- Good software development skills in bare-metal or low-level system software environments.
Nice-to-have:
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and verification processes (test plan and testcase development).
- Experience in C++ and logical programming approaches.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux working environments.
- Experience with CPU verification, developing test harnesses, or validating on enterprise/mobile platforms.
Education Requirements
B.Tech / B.S. or M.Tech / M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electronics Engineering.
