Job Title

Architecture Intern (MS) - Summer 2027

Role Summary

Join Marvell's Custom Cloud Solutions architecture team to help define next-generation storage and memory architectures for AI data centers. The intern will research system- and chip-level approaches, develop performance models, and evaluate architectural trade-offs for large-scale AI workloads.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for Master's students (student status required; see Education Requirements for expected graduation window).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include research, modeling, analysis, and cross-team collaboration to inform architecture decisions.

  • Research the role of storage and memory devices in AI training and inference pipelines.
  • Develop performance models and simulations using C/C++ or Python to evaluate architectural trade-offs.
  • Analyze chip and system architectures for performance, latency, and cost metrics.
  • Identify optimal hardware/software partitioning for future storage and memory controllers.
  • Prepare architecture presentations and specifications; present findings to the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share insights and leverage capabilities.

Requirements

Core qualifications and skills required or preferred for the role.

  • Coursework or research experience in computer architecture, hardware design, programming, or modeling techniques.
  • Understanding of AI training and inference algorithms, including large language models and transformer architectures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

Preferred (nice-to-have):

  • Knowledge of system architectures for data centers and AI workloads.
  • Familiarity with modern interconnects (PCIe, NVMe, CXL), memory/storage technologies (NAND, DRAM, SSDs), and processor architectures (CPUs, GPUs).
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++ or Python.
  • Experience with performance analysis tools or architectural simulators.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with expected graduation between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028. PhD candidates may be considered and may receive additional compensation.
