Architecture ASIC Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Architecture Coherent DSP team responsible for design, simulation, implementation, and validation of DSP ASICs for coherent optical communications used in data center interconnect, long-haul, and metro applications.

The role focuses on research, system-level modeling, proposal and evaluation of DSP architectures, and translating customer requirements into concrete design and verification tasks.

Experience Level

Entry-level (1+ year of relevant experience)

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system modeling, algorithm evaluation, and verification of coherent DSP solutions suitable for CMOS implementation.

• Research technical literature on communications, coherent systems, LiDAR/Radar, and related fields.
• Develop and run Matlab and Python simulators to evaluate DSP architectures and system performance.
• Use, maintain, and modify in-house C++ simulators for system-level modeling.
• Model coherent optical systems at multiple levels of detail and assess impact of optical components.
• Define and execute functional verification and validation of designs.
• Document results and produce presentations to support technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
• Translate customer requirements into design decisions and defend technical choices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, plus a small set of preferred areas.

• Must-have: 1+ year of work experience with exposure to signal processing and/or digital communications.
• Solid theoretical background in signal theory and digital signal processing.
• Strong mathematics and basic physics knowledge relevant to communications systems.
• Experience using Matlab and Python for system-level simulations.
• Experience with or willingness to work on C++ simulation code.
• Ability to write clear technical documentation and present results.
• Nice-to-have: deeper background in digital communications, stochastic processing, and optical systems.
• May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; candidates could be subject to export license review.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is stated as the minimum qualification.
