APTD Equipment Development Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and mature wafer and die handling, post-probe and assembly equipment for first-of-a-kind (FOAK) hardware and production transfer. Lead equipment roadmaps, collaborate with process development and OEM vendors, and drive hardware improvements in cost, availability, and capability.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include equipment development, optimization, and transfer to production.
- Develop strategies to improve equipment maturity for FOAK hardware.
- Create and maintain 5+ year hardware roadmaps for post-probe wafer and die processing.
- Design and develop wafer and assembly equipment to meet physical and electrical product requirements.
- Optimize equipment to reduce cost, improve availability, and increase process capability.
- Collaborate with process development teams and OEM vendors to implement innovative solutions.
- Perform root-cause and failure-mode analysis and drive corrective development projects with vendors.
- Conduct fundamental research to develop next-generation equipment solutions.
- Support equipment transfer to production sites; some domestic or international travel may be required.
- Apply data-driven techniques and AI/ML tools to equipment and process data where appropriate.
Requirements

- Experience with design of experiments (DOE), statistical process control (SPC), defect analysis, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in statistics and SPC methods.
- Hands-on experience with wafer and assembly tools, including overlay systems.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills; ability to perform root-cause and model-based problem solving.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to use technical knowledge to guide strategic directions and drive development with OEMs/vendors.
- Willingness and ability to support equipment transfer, including travel as required.
- Nice-to-have: experience applying AI/ML to equipment or process data; experience developing long-term hardware roadmaps.
