Job Title

Applied Research Engineer, Chip Design

Role Summary

Lead applied research that integrates large language models and agentic AI into ASIC design flows. Partner with ASIC engineering and model teams to deliver production-quality tools that improve RTL generation, verification, and optimization.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects 8+ years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver applied-research solutions that reduce engineering ramp time and improve ASIC team efficiency.

  • Apply LLMs, coding agents, and agentic systems to RTL generation, design verification, timing, and optimization.
  • Integrate coding agents and agentic AI into EDA and validation flows to streamline complex tasks.
  • Develop data generation and evaluation methodologies to produce robust, production-ready systems rather than demos.
  • Translate prototypes into scalable, maintainable tools and measure success by ASIC team productivity and schedule adherence.
  • Collaborate with model teams to incorporate domain-specific data and feedback into model improvements.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience.

  • 8+ years of proven industry experience in ASIC design and optimization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in front-end ASIC design, verification, and timing.
  • Experience applying agentic AI or LLM-based approaches to chip design problems.
  • Experience building LLM-based agents or AI tools with strong context engineering and tool integration.
  • Hands-on experience with custom model training and fine-tuning on proprietary technical data.
  • Experience building and maintaining infrastructure (Docker, Slurm, CI/CD).
  • Strong collaboration skills and clear written and verbal communication.
  • Nice-to-have: prior work integrating models into production EDA pipelines or domain-specific model improvement projects.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
