Staff Engineer - Applications Engineering

Role Summary

Provide technical, customer-facing support for Synopsys sign‑off tools (PrimeTime, PrimePower, PrimeClosure, PrimeShield) to help customers meet tape‑out schedules. Work directly with customer engineering teams in South Korea and collaborate with global R&D and product teams to reproduce issues, propose fixes, and drive product improvements.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role requests approximately 5+ years of hands-on ASIC/SoC design experience focused on timing, power, or physical design sign‑off flows.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities supporting customer engagements and product feedback.

• Support customer tape‑outs using PrimeTime, PrimeShield, PrimeClosure, and PrimePower; diagnose tool, methodology, and setup issues under tight deadlines.
• Work directly with customers to evaluate new features, run betas, gather feedback, and drive adoption.
• Collaborate with R&D and product teams to reproduce issues, propose enhancements, and follow through on fixes.
• Create and deliver technical training, demos, and documentation tailored to customer workflows.
• Translate customer requirements into actionable feature requests and help prioritize them with global teams.
• Act as the technical liaison between South Korea customers and international engineering teams.

Requirements

Key technical skills and capabilities required. Must-haves are listed first; followed by strong-plus / nice-to-have items.

• Must-have: 5+ years of hands-on ASIC or SoC design experience with deep exposure to timing analysis, power analysis, or physical design flows.
• Must-have: Strong working knowledge of static timing analysis concepts (setup/hold, CDC, multi‑mode multi‑corner).
• Must-have: Production experience with at least one sign‑off tool: PrimeTime, PrimePower, PrimeClosure, PrimeShield, or equivalent.
• Must-have: Ability to debug complex issues across tool configuration, design data, and customer methodology.
• Must-have: Fluency in English and Korean for technical communication and documentation.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with scripting for automation (Tcl, Python, Perl) to customize workflows and automate tasks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
