Applications Engineering Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Provide presales and post-sales technical support for ZeBu emulation systems used in large-scale ASIC verification. Work with customers to deploy and configure hardware platforms, debug RTL/testbench issues on emulation hardware, and collaborate with R&D and field teams to resolve complex problems.
The role is customer-facing and spans proof-of-concept evaluations, production verification deployments, troubleshooting, and documentation to improve team knowledge and product integration.
Experience Level
Senior - 2 to 4 years of relevant experience (as stated in the posting).
Responsibilities
Primary technical and customer-facing duties.
- Deploy and configure ZeBu emulation systems for customer evaluations and production verification environments.
- Debug customer design issues by analyzing RTL, testbenches, emulation tool configurations, and hardware logs to isolate root causes.
- Support presales proof-of-concept setups and demonstrate emulation in customer verification flows.
- Provide post-sales technical support and escalate complex issues to R&D when needed.
- Collaborate with senior applications engineers and product teams to resolve customer problems and share best practices.
- Document technical solutions and produce customer-facing notes and internal knowledge-base content.
- Participate in customer calls and onsite visits to diagnose issues and communicate solutions in real time.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, plus desirable extras.
- 2 to 4 years working in IC design, ASIC verification, emulation, or FPGA-based prototyping.
- Solid understanding of ASIC verification methodologies and simulation-based verification flows.
- Ability to read RTL (Verilog or VHDL) and identify common design or testbench issues.
- Working knowledge of verification environments, including testbenches, stimulus generation, and checking mechanisms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction and technical documentation.
- Nice-to-have: SystemVerilog, UVM, C/C++, Python, Tcl scripting experience; hands-on experience with Palladium, ZeBu, Veloce, or other hardware emulation/prototyping platforms.
- Customer-support mindset: ability to manage multiple requests, diagnose under pressure, and escalate appropriately.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field - or equivalent hands-on/practical experience.
