Applications Engineering Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Lead deployment and technical consulting for Synopsys Ansys EDA products at leading semiconductor customers, focusing on power integrity, signal integrity, reliability, timing, and packaging for advanced nodes (7nm, 5nm, 3nm).

Work with customers, foundries, IP providers, and internal product teams to diagnose real-design failures, deliver production-ready solutions, and feed product requirements into development.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 5+ years experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years with a Master's degree (per job posting).

Responsibilities

The role combines customer-facing deployment, technical troubleshooting, and product-feedback activities.

• Deploy EDA solutions at semiconductor customers building advanced SoCs and 3DICs.
• Diagnose complex power, signal, timing, and reliability issues on real designs and deliver reproducible fixes.
• Collaborate with software developers, architects, and product specialists to turn customer problems into product requirements.
• Use big-data platforms (e.g., Seascape) to address cross-chip, package, and system-level challenges.
• Provide technical guidance and consultation to customers and work with engineering teams to validate solutions in production flows.
• Travel occasionally to customer sites for deployment support and technical reviews.

Requirements

• Must-have: Hands-on experience in ASIC physical design, power integrity, signal integrity, reliability closure, or custom circuit design and simulation.
• Must-have: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in customer design environments.
• Must-have: Scripting/automation skills (Python, Tcl, or Perl) for workflows and tool integration.
• Must-have: Strong verbal and written communication skills for customer-facing work and internal collaboration.
• Must-have: Willingness to travel occasionally for customer deployments and support.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with the Ansys Seascape platform or big-data EDA platforms.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with EDA tools for power analysis, signal integrity, or reliability verification.
• Nice-to-have: Experience mentoring or growing application engineering teams.
