Applications Engineering, Sr Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Senior individual contributor in the Application Engineering team in Noida responsible for customer enablement and deployment of AI-driven RTL-to-GDSII design methodologies using Synopsys EDA tools and IP. The role partners with customers, R&D, and product teams to optimize flows for high-performance and AI/compute silicon.

Responsibilities

Principal responsibilities include customer engagement, methodology development, and technical leadership for complex RTL-to-GDSII flows.

• Work with customers to develop and deploy AI-driven RTL-to-GDSII methodologies using Synopsys tools and libraries.
• Create, optimize, and validate design flows to meet performance, power, and area targets for high-frequency cores, automotive, and AI/compute designs.
• Enable and automate flows using tools such as Fusion Compiler and RTL Architect; use Tcl/Python for scripting and automation.
• Collaborate with R&D and product teams to drive new features and solutions based on field requirements.
• Lead and mentor junior application engineers; provide technical guidance and project support.
• Deliver technical presentations, application notes, and best-practice documentation for customers and internal teams.

Requirements

The following are required skills and experience. Items under "Nice-to-have" are optional but beneficial.

• Must-have: Deep understanding of RTL-to-GDSII flows and hands-on experience with backend P&R tools (e.g., Fusion Compiler, ICC2, or equivalent).
• Must-have: Expertise in physical synthesis, timing closure, clock tree synthesis, and routing at advanced nodes (2nm/3nm/5nm or similar).
• Must-have: Proficiency in Tcl and Python for EDA workflow automation.
• Must-have: Strong technical account management, customer-facing skills, and experience mentoring engineers.
• Must-have: Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Nice-to-have: Prior experience applying AI-based design-space optimization techniques and working with AI-focused EDA engines.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent practical experience will be considered. The position expects approximately 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
