Applications Engineering, Senior Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Senior member of the Applications Engineering team based in Seongnam, supporting customers on sign-off and timing closure for complex SoC/ASIC designs. You will resolve high‑impact timing and power issues, run beta programs and proof‑of‑concept flows, and translate customer problems into product improvements.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 8+ years of hands-on semiconductor design experience, with deep expertise in static timing analysis, power analysis, or physical-design sign-off.
Responsibilities
Provide customer-facing technical support, reproduce and debug complex issues, and collaborate with R&D to deliver solutions that enable successful tape-outs.
- Support customer tape-outs using PrimeTime and related sign-off tools to resolve timing, power, and sign-off problems under tight schedules.
- Run beta programs, build proof‑of‑concept flows, and drive adoption of new product features.
- Debug complex customer designs, reproduce issues internally, and coordinate fixes or workarounds with R&D and product teams.
- Capture customer requirements from real design challenges and propose product enhancements.
- Create and deliver technical training, demos, and presentations tailored to customer flows.
- Collaborate with local and global applications teams to share knowledge and escalate issues.
- Review and improve product documentation for customer scenarios.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and customer-facing experience for the role.
- 8+ years of semiconductor design experience focused on STA, power analysis, or physical sign-off.
- Strong working knowledge of PrimeTime; experience with PrimeShield, PrimeClosure, or PrimePower is a plus.
- Proven ability to debug timing and power issues in complex SoC/ASIC designs.
- Scripting proficiency (Tcl, Python, or Perl) for automation and flow development.
- Experience working directly with customers in technical support, field applications, or consulting roles.
- Clear communication skills to explain technical tradeoffs to customer engineers and internal R&D.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for onsite support, training, or escalations.
