Role Summary

Senior applications engineer serving as the technical point of contact for customers integrating Synopsys Interface IP (Ethernet, PCIe, DDR) into complex SoC designs. The role focuses on IP configuration, RTL and verification integration, debugging across simulation/synthesis/STA flows, and supporting silicon bring-up.

Experience Level

Senior — 10+ years of hands-on experience in ASIC/SoC design, verification, or applications engineering with exposure to full tape-out cycles.

Responsibilities

The role combines customer support, technical troubleshooting, and cross-team collaboration to enable first-pass silicon and accelerate customer time-to-market.

• Act as primary technical contact for customers integrating Interface IP into RTL and verification environments.
• Guide IP configuration, feature selection, and integration best practices.
• Debug issues across simulation, synthesis, static timing analysis, and physical design flows.
• Support silicon and system bring-up in lab environments and diagnose hardware-level issues.
• Collaborate with R&D, product engineering, and field teams to deliver solutions and escalate complex issues.
• Track protocol specification changes relevant to automotive, AI, and data center applications.
• Occasional travel to customer sites for integration support, training, and bring-up assistance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and on-the-job capabilities.

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in ASIC/SoC design, verification, or applications engineering with tape-out experience.
• Deep working knowledge of at least one high-speed protocol: Ethernet, PCIe, or DDR.
• Strong RTL coding and debugging skills in Verilog or VHDL.
• Practical experience with simulation (VCS, ModelSim, Xcelium), synthesis (Design Compiler, Genus), and static timing analysis (PrimeTime, Tempus) in UNIX/Linux.
• Familiarity with CDC, reset-domain crossing, lint, DFT, and logical equivalence checking (LEC) is a strong plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; able to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple customer engagements and work across time zones; occasional travel required.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with focus on VLSI or digital design.
