Job Title

Applications Engineering, Senior Engineer

Role Summary

Field applications engineer supporting Synopsys Hardware Assisted Verification (HAV) products (Zebu Emulation and Protocompiler Prototyping). Help customers migrate, debug, and optimize multi-FPGA designs, collaborate with R&D, and support pre-sales evaluations.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting requests a Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering with 2–3 years' experience or a Master's in Electronics Engineering with 1–2 years' experience in emulation or prototyping environments.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on customer support, adoption of new features, and collaboration with internal teams.

  • Provide technical support for Zebu Emulation and Protocompiler Prototyping across partitioning, synthesis, place-and-route, and hardware debug.
  • Migrate customer designs to new software releases and resolve regressions or performance issues.
  • Deploy new software features on live designs and assist customers adopting advanced capabilities.
  • Deliver technical training to customers on tool usage and advanced multi-FPGA workflows.
  • Work with HAV R&D to report issues, supply reproducible cases, and advocate for product improvements.
  • Support pre-sales evaluations by running customer designs and demonstrating performance and potential blockers.
  • Travel occasionally for onsite support, training, or critical issue resolution.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience needed to perform the role effectively. Education requirements are listed separately below.

  • Hands-on FPGA logic design and implementation experience, including synthesis, place-and-route, and timing closure.
  • Ability to read, debug, and modify RTL in Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
  • Practical knowledge of FPGA architecture, resource utilization, clock-domain crossing, and design partitioning.
  • Experience reproducing customer issues, analyzing synthesis logs, waveforms, and FPGA utilization reports.
  • Scripting skills in Python, Tcl, or shell for automation and log analysis.
  • Strong customer-facing skills: calm under pressure, clear communication, and managing multiple issues across time zones.
  • Nice-to-have: exposure to Xilinx or Intel/Altera synthesis tools; familiarity with Synopsys prototyping or emulation hardware/software; experience with PCIe, AXI, UART, or I2C interfaces.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering with 2–3 years' experience, or Master's in Electronics Engineering with 1–2 years' experience, specifically in emulation or prototyping environments.
