Applications Engineering, Principal Engineer
Role Summary
Lead customer-facing integration of Synopsys Interface IP (IIP), with a primary focus on UCIe (Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express). Work with customer SoC teams to guide IP integration, resolve design and bring-up issues, and align product development with customer requirements.
Member of an applications engineering team that collaborates with R&D and customers across system bring-up, verification, synthesis, timing, and floorplanning to ensure successful deployment of IIP in production SoCs.
Experience Level
Senior - requires extensive experience; the role specifies at least 15 years of experience in design, verification, or applications.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and hands-on customer support across the SoC integration lifecycle.
- Assess customer SoC and system integration requirements for IIP and UCIe.
- Diagnose and resolve integration issues across simulation, synthesis, floorplanning, STA, DFT, and silicon bring-up.
- Advise customers on ASIC front-end and back-end flow best practices and EDA tool usage.
- Conduct integration training and review major SoC milestones with customers.
- Collaborate with R&D on application notes, design reviews, and product improvements.
- Support system/silicon bring-up and provide feedback to drive IIP product enhancements.
Requirements
Core qualifications, skills, and domain expertise required for successful performance.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience in design, verification, or applications.
- Hands-on experience with ASIC front-end or back-end development and SoC flows.
- Practical knowledge of SoC bring-up, timing closure, DFT, synthesis, and floorplanning.
- Domain expertise in Die-to-Die interfaces and PCIe/CXL protocols.
- Experience working with UCIe IP and recent industry specifications/applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to present to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel as required for customer engagements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (degree preferred as stated by employer).
