Applications Engineering Manager, Power uModule Group
Role Summary
Lead a team of applications engineers responsible for customer success, product execution, validation, and commercialization of power uModule products. Align customer needs, product strategy, and engineering execution across markets such as industrial, datacenter, and aerospace.
Experience Level
Senior β managerial role. Requires 10+ years of relevant experience in power electronics, power management, applications engineering, product engineering, or related technical leadership.
Responsibilities
Manage and develop the applications engineering organization and drive execution of application strategy for power module solutions.
- Hire, coach, mentor, and perform performance management for applications engineers.
- Set team priorities and resource plans for new product development, customer engagements, escalations, and evaluation platforms.
- Drive application engineering strategy across product definition, validation, documentation, customer support, and commercialization.
- Partner with product line management, design engineering, product engineering, marketing, sales, FAEs, and customers to define requirements.
- Guide specification definition, evaluation planning, and release readiness for power modules and system-level solutions.
- Lead resolution of complex technical issues including power attach, converter performance, and failure analysis.
- Develop technical collateral: reference designs, tools, application notes, training materials, and presentations.
- Support strategic customer engagements and visits in target markets.
- Analyze market trends and competitive technologies to influence roadmap priorities.
Requirements
Essential technical skills and leadership experience required for successful performance in this role.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in power electronics, power management, applications or product engineering, or technical leadership.
- Proven experience leading, managing, or mentoring technical teams and delivering through others.
- Hands-on expertise with switching-mode power supplies and DC-DC converter design, testing, and optimization.
- Strong knowledge of analog circuits, converter topologies, control loop design, compensation, EMI, thermal design, and system-level power architecture.
- Experience supporting customers through the product lifecycle: evaluation, qualification, production release, and sustaining support.
- Proficiency with design, simulation, and analysis tools; schematic design and PCB layout experience is a plus.
- Excellent technical writing, executive presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10%; first-shift/day schedule.
Education Requirements
Required: MSEE in power electronics or a related engineering discipline. Preferred: PhD. Relevant fields include power electronics, power management, electrical or computer engineering, or closely related technical fields.
