Applications Engineering Engineer
SynopsysJob Title
Applications Engineering Engineer
Role Summary
Provide technical application support for Synopsys implementation tools to customers in Vietnam and the broader region. Work with product engineering and R&D to reproduce and resolve tool or methodology issues across the RTL-to-GDSII flow.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting does not specify years of experience; candidates should have hands-on exposure to digital implementation and debug workflows.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer support, debugging, and knowledge sharing across implementation flows.
- Support customers using implementation tools (e.g., Fusion Compiler, IC Compiler II) to debug timing, congestion, floorplan, and power/area issues.
- Analyze customer design flows from RTL to GDSII and reproduce issues in-house.
- Review tool logs, identify root causes, and provide clear technical guidance and next steps.
- Develop technical documentation, application notes, and best-practice guides from recurring cases.
- Participate in customer meetings, debug sessions, and technical reviews as a trusted technical resource.
- Collaborate with product engineering and R&D to escalate complex cases and contribute to product improvements.
- Build internal knowledge on synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, and physical verification flows.
- Support pre-sales and post-sales activities with the sales team when needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and expectations. Education requirements are listed separately below.
- Solid understanding of digital design fundamentals and the RTL-to-GDSII physical implementation flow.
- Knowledge of synthesis and physical design concepts: timing closure, floorplanning, place-and-route, and congestion analysis.
- Ability to work in Linux/Unix and use command-line workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English for customer-facing activities.
- Ability to debug issues systematically: reproduce, read logs, and develop structured debug plans.
- Comfort managing multiple support cases without dropping critical details.
- Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with Fusion Compiler, IC Compiler II, or similar implementation tools.
- Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (TCL, Python, Perl, or Shell) to automate tasks and speed debugging.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
