Applications Engineer, SoC Design & Verification
Role Summary
Customer-facing engineering role supporting SoC design and verification workflows. The engineer will work with customer teams in Shanghai and the region to diagnose issues, propose tooling and methodology solutions, and deliver technical guidance and collateral.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in chip design, SoC development, or verification engineering.
Responsibilities
Provide direct technical support and enablement for customers using SoC design and verification tools.
- Engage with customers to understand SoC design and verification challenges and map them to solutions.
- Debug complex issues in RTL, SystemVerilog testbenches, and tool flows; perform root-cause analysis and deliver fixes.
- Support front-end and mid-end workflows including CDC/RDC, low-power (UPF), gate-level simulation, VIP integration, and formal verification.
- Develop and deliver technical demonstrations, training, and best-practice recommendations tailored to customer environments.
- Collaborate with product engineering, R&D, and sales to reproduce issues and provide customer feedback that influences the product roadmap.
- Create technical content such as application notes, reference flows, and example designs to help customers adopt solutions.
- Build and maintain technical relationships with customer engineering teams as a trusted advisor.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; plus items indicate complementary strengths.
- Must-have: 5+ years of hands-on experience in chip design, SoC development, or verification engineering.
- Must-have: Strong working knowledge of RTL design and SystemVerilog; able to read, write, and debug both.
- Must-have: Solid understanding of SoC fundamentals: clocking, reset, power domains, and DFT concepts.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with CDC/RDC analysis, low-power design/UPF, gate-level simulation, VIP/protocol verification, formal verification, or lint/design rule checking.
- Nice-to-have: Prior customer-facing technical experience (applications engineering, field engineering, technical consulting).
- Must-have: Fluency in Mandarin and professional working proficiency in English for customer and internal communication.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related technical field.
