Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Work with design engineers and customers to develop power-management ICs and system-level solutions for consumer AV, imaging, PC peripherals, portable devices, networking and automotive applications. Provide product specification input, customer application support, and coordinate technical activities with factory and design centers; the role includes regional customer-facing support and travel.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 5–6 years of experience in analog power management, field applications, design, or testing within the semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support to customers and sales channel partners across the assigned territory.
- Coordinate technical matters with factory and design centers (e.g., California, Hangzhou, Chengdu) as needed.
- Manage joint development programs with customers.
- Identify new customers, applications, and opportunities and recommend appropriate products.
- Support new product promotion and contribute product ideas for business development.
- Collaborate with customers on system architecture design, troubleshooting, and evaluation kit demonstrations.
- Develop and deliver technical training for internal teams and customers.
- Travel regionally to support customer sites as required.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications:
- 5–6 years hands-on experience in analog power management electronics, design/testing, or as a Field Application Engineer in the semiconductor industry.
- Experience with DC/DC PMICs using I2C or PMBus; automotive experience is mandatory.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and the local language.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to customers and internal teams.
- Self-motivated, able to operate with minimal supervision, and willing to travel as needed.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with motor drivers.
- Ability to evaluate EVB and customer boards on the bench.
- Understanding of common power supply architectures and DC-DC converter control loops.
- Demonstrated leadership in customer-facing technical support roles.
