Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for application support of high-speed amplifiers, supporting design-in activities, characterization, and post-ramp customer support. Works with product, systems, and engineering teams to develop evaluation boards, test procedures, reference designs, and application documentation.

Position is based in Knoxville, TN and includes hands-on bench work and on-site customer support.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” requires 2+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer support, product evaluation, and documentation.

  • Answer customer inquiries and support design-in activities via forums, email, and direct contact
  • Perform schematic and layout reviews of customer applications
  • Debug customer issues by reproducing problems on evaluation and customer boards
  • Provide on-site customer support as required
  • Design evaluation (EVM) and internal boards to support product correlation and evaluation
  • Create user guides, test procedures, and prepare EVMs for customer use
  • Contribute to datasheet review to ensure technical completeness
  • Perform bench characterization of high-speed amplifiers, including automation and test hardware design
  • Participate in new silicon testing and robustness/destructive testing
  • Develop custom reference designs and write application notes

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in applications or product support
  • Experience supporting analog products
  • Strong hardware and software debugging skills
  • Ability to produce clear, high-quality technical documentation
  • Strong technical background and problem-solving ability

Preferred:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to quickly ramp on new systems and processes and work effectively in teams
  • Initiative and strong time-management to meet project deadlines

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, or a related field (Degree Level: Bachelor's Degree).
