Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Perform early system-level validation and qualification of DRAM products with internal and external customers. Lead product qualification projects, design and execute system test methodologies, and deliver diagnostic data and analysis.

Work within the Systems Compatibility Group and cross-functional teams (Application Engineering, Product Engineering, RMA) to develop validation strategies, automation, and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system-level validation, debugging, and communicating technical results.

  • Validate and qualify DRAM products in customer systems; perform system-level failure analysis and characterization.
  • Run, configure, and develop diagnostic software and system debug methodologies.
  • Design experiments, analyze and interpret test data, and report findings to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop custom tools and automation for system-level testing and diagnostics.
  • Lead Micron product qualification activities with internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineering, Product Engineering, RMA, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Define and execute system test methodologies and memory diagnostic tools.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • Practical experience with system-level memory validation and failure analysis, preferably with DRAM products.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture as it relates to memory systems and system-level validation.
  • Proficiency in Python for developing diagnostic software, automation, and test methodologies.
  • Experience designing experiments, analyzing results, and creating custom test tools.
  • Proven ability to debug system- and memory-related issues.
  • Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, and multimeters.
  • Ability to communicate technical data clearly to customers and internal teams.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with product qualification processes and RMA workflows.

Education Requirements

Employer will accept a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
