Applications Engineer, 3D-IC Solutions Sales

Role Summary

Responsible for securing technical design wins for Siemens EDA 3D‑IC products (Innovator3D Integrator/Layout and Calibre 3DIC family) by providing technical consulting, demonstrations, benchmarks, and account-level solution development. Works with global sales and engineering teams to support key accounts, primarily in Japan.

The role is customer-facing and requires regular domestic and international travel.

Experience Level

Mid-level — requires 4+ years of demonstrated experience in the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Drive technical design wins for 3D‑IC solutions through presentations, product demonstrations, and benchmarks.
  • Develop technical solutions and account strategies to increase market share.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to key accounts and integrate with global peers.
  • Communicate technical status and progress to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Travel internationally and domestically as required for customer meetings and support.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of IC and packaging data formats (Verilog, LEF/DEF, GDS, OASIS, ODB++).
  • Familiarity with 2.5D/3D‑IC integration technologies (e.g., TSMC 3DFabric, Intel EMIB/Foveros) and chiplet design challenges.
  • Practical scripting skills (Python, Tcl, Perl, or similar) and working knowledge of Windows and Linux.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional working proficiency in Japanese and English.
  • Willingness to travel for customer meetings and support several times per year.

Preferred:

  • Prior customer-facing experience.
  • Familiarity with 2.5D/3D‑IC EDA cockpit solutions (Siemens Innovator3D, Cadence Integrity SystemPlanner, Synopsys 3DIC Compiler).
  • Knowledge of IC package/interposer layout methodologies and EDA tools (e.g., Cadence APD).
  • Direct experience with Siemens Calibre solutions (Calibre DRC/LVS and/or Calibre 3DSTACK).

Education Requirements

BSEE or MSEE in electrical/electronic engineering with at least 4 years of demonstrated experience in the semiconductor field.
