Applications Development Engineer
Role Summary
Join the CAPRES applications team in Lyngby, Denmark to develop and optimize electrical metrology applications for semiconductor device and process characterization. The role interfaces directly with customers, product engineering, and field teams to deliver application solutions for R&D and high-volume manufacturing.

Mid-level. Experience expectations vary by degree: PhD: 0+ years; Master’s: ~3+ years; Bachelor’s: ~5+ years.
Responsibilities
Deliver, validate, and support application solutions for CAPRES metrology systems and customers.
- Develop and implement application methodologies for sheet resistance, magnetic characterization, and CIPT measurements.
- Plan and execute in-house characterizations, feasibility studies, and product demos.
- Analyze electrical measurement data and define test plans and best known methods (BKMs).
- Produce technical documentation: application notes, evaluation reports, and demo summaries; present results to customers.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues and improve performance.
- Support on-site tool evaluations, recipe setup, troubleshooting, and process/application integration for global customers.
- Capture customer requirements and translate use cases into application solutions and product improvements.
- Lead medium-sized application projects and contribute to cross-functional activities.
- Train and mentor field application engineers and junior team members.
Requirements
Core technical skills, hands-on measurement and data-analysis experience, and strong communication skills in English are required. Education requirements are summarized separately below.

Must-have: Strong understanding of semiconductor applications, device characterization, or process engineering.

Must-have: Solid knowledge of electrical measurement principles and data analysis techniques.

Must-have: Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP, or similar.

Nice-to-have:
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing (logic, DRAM, NAND, or MRAM).
- Hands-on familiarity with probe-based sheet resistance, magnetics, and CIPT metrology techniques.
- Customer-facing or field support experience and experience leading medium-sized projects.
- Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration and ability to act as a technical reference.
Education Requirements
Doctorate (PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field (0+ years); OR Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field (3+ years); OR Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field (5+ years).
