Application Engineering, Sr Engineer
Role Summary
Senior applications engineer responsible for driving customer adoption and successful deployments of Synopsys PrimeTime static timing analysis (STA) tools. The role spans pre-sale evaluations, post-sale support, customer training, tape‑out assistance, and cross-functional feedback to product teams.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on customer technical enablement, troubleshooting, and collaboration with internal teams to improve product fit and quality.
- Execute competitive benchmarks and product evaluations to increase PrimeTime adoption.
- Present technical advantages to customer design teams and management in pre-sale and post-sale contexts.
- Deliver customer training, workshops, and hands-on support to improve user proficiency.
- Provide tape‑out support, troubleshoot timing issues, and advise on complex design challenges.
- Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and sales to relay customer feedback and influence product enhancements.
- Develop technical documentation, best practices, and automation to streamline customer workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and customer-facing abilities required for the role; preferred items listed where applicable.
- Hands-on experience with Synopsys PrimeTime STA tool.
- Deep knowledge of timing corners, modes, process variation effects, and signal integrity impacts on timing.
- Familiarity with synthesis, physical design, parasitic extraction, and ECO methodologies.
- Strong proficiency in TCL scripting for tool customization and automation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; prior customer-facing experience preferred.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and translate customer issues into actionable product feedback.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent with 3–5 years relevant experience, or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or equivalent with 2–4 years. Equivalent practical experience in timing analysis or related silicon design roles is acceptable.
