Application Engineering Manager (Physical Design)
Role Summary
Lead and manage a team of Physical Design Application Engineers supporting Synopsys implementation solutions for strategic semiconductor customers.
Primary mission: deliver high-quality technical support and deployments, drive customer success, and grow adoption of Physical Design technologies.
Experience Level
Senior level - requires approximately 8+ years in ASIC Physical Design and at least 2 years of leadership or technical management experience.
Responsibilities
Manage technical delivery, customer relationships, and team development.
- Lead and mentor a team of application engineers supporting customers' physical design implementations.
- Drive technical strategies and methodology development for floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, timing closure, signoff, and PPA optimization.
- Manage customer engagements, escalations, and technical campaigns to ensure successful deployments.
- Collaborate with sales, product management, and R&D to align solutions with customer requirements.
- Plan resources, prioritize work, and ensure consistent service quality and operational execution.
- Contribute to long-term business strategy to expand customer engagement and accelerate technology adoption.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills.
- 8+ years of experience in ASIC Physical Design, design implementation, or application engineering.
- 2+ years of people management or technical leadership experience.
- Expertise in physical design implementation methodologies (floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, timing closure, signoff, PPA optimization).
- Familiarity with Synopsys physical design tools such as Fusion Compiler, ICC2, PrimeTime, StarRC, and IC Validator.
- Proven ability to lead customer engagements and manage escalations toward successful business outcomes.
- Experience supporting advanced technology nodes and complex SoC implementation projects.
- Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management, coaching, and talent development skills.
Nice-to-have: experience with AI-driven design technologies.
