Application Engineer (Systems)
Role Summary
Provide local technical leadership for silicon photonics (SiPh) test solutions and serve as the primary technical contact for customers and the global FormFactor team. The role focuses on presenting solutions, supporting demos, resolving customer issues, and enabling sales opportunities.
Work closely with sales, operations, and R&D stakeholders to deliver test solutions, drive customer engagements, and escalate/resolve technical problems.
Experience Level

Responsibilities
Primary day-to-day responsibilities:
- Act as local technical point of contact for SiPh testing requirements, technical trends, and market information.
- Coordinate technical communication and strategy alignment with the US headquarters and global teams.
- Support sales by presenting SiPh testing solutions and engaging prospective customers and projects.
- Manage day-to-day customer SiPh testing equipment application and service activities, including demos.
- Deliver testing solutions, support customer issues, and prepare internal escalation summaries.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to diagnose problems and implement appropriate test solutions.
Requirements
Key qualifications and preferences (must-have vs preferred):
- Must-have: Customer-facing technical experience with equipment application, service, or support; strong verbal and written English communication; project management experience; ability to work with colleagues at multiple levels (management, sales, global teams); logical problem-solving mindset and a "can-do" attitude.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with probe systems, probe stations, wafer probing, or ATE; experience in equipment vendor roles or RD/HVM fab environments; basic knowledge of laser/fiber operation; DOE setup skills for problem solving; background in silicon photonics or optical testing.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Physics with specialization in Optical Engineering or Silicon Photonics is stated as the typical educational background; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
