Application Engineer II
Role Summary
Work with IoT customers to integrate Silicon Labs wireless SoCs and MCUs into customer products. Provide advanced technical support, develop example code and proof-of-concepts, and produce technical documentation to accelerate customer development.
This role partners with IC design, software engineering and marketing teams to improve software quality and developer experience based on customer feedback.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include direct customer support, technical content creation, and cross-team collaboration.
- Provide advanced technical support for complex MCU and peripheral issues: analyze architecture/code, reproduce issues, narrow root cause, and design tests.
- Develop proof-of-concept designs, example code, and tools to demonstrate product advantages and streamline repetitive tasks.
- Create and review technical collateral: knowledge base articles, quick start guides, application notes, and code examples.
- Collaborate with IC design, software engineering, and marketing on product evaluations and new product definition.
- Use AI-assisted tools routinely for coding, documentation, and customer support tasks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and capabilities required to perform the role.
- Strong embedded C programming and debugging ability (troubleshoot code, devices, and systems).
- Practical knowledge of embedded system concepts (memory management, interrupt handling, build process) and common peripherals (timers, ADC/DAC, SPI, I2C, UART).
- Experience using hardware debugging instruments (multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer).
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for customer-facing interactions and documentation.
- Ability to develop example code, proof-of-concepts, and small tools to speed customer development.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with embedded or real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Micrium).
- Experience with bootloaders, hardware design, prototyping, or working in distributed teams.
- Familiarity applying AI tools for coding and documentation workflows.
Education Requirements
BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
