Job Title

Application Engineer II: Analog IC Design and Simulation

Role Summary

Provide technical, customer-facing support for analog IC design and simulation as part of the Global Customer Success (GCS) team in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The role focuses on debugging circuit behavior and simulation issues, improving customer productivity with Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre toolflows, and enabling tool adoption through documentation and automation.

This is an onsite engineering role collaborating with R&D, field teams, and other application engineers to reproduce issues, validate solutions, and improve product usability.

Experience Level

Mid-level; typically requires 2–5 years of experience in analog, mixed-signal, or RF design and simulation.

Responsibilities

Deliver technical support, reproduce and debug customer issues, and drive improvements in analog design and simulation workflows.

  • Support customers on Virtuoso for schematic capture and layout, and on Spectre, SpectreRF, and AMS for simulation and debugging.
  • Troubleshoot convergence and circuit behavior; analyze DC, transient, AC, and noise simulation results.
  • Apply and promote best practices for schematic-driven layout, layout-dependent effects, and simulation setup.
  • Collaborate with R&D, field teams, and other application engineers to reproduce issues and validate fixes.
  • Create technical documentation, examples, and knowledge-base content to improve customer self-service.
  • Develop custom automation and solutions using scripting and tool capabilities where applicable.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help implement team best practices in analog flows and debugging.

Requirements

Technical skills and communication abilities required to perform the role.

Must-have:

  • 2–5 years of practical experience in analog, mixed-signal, or RF design and simulation.
  • Strong understanding of analog electronics: analog circuits, CMOS device operation, feedback systems, noise and mismatch, and semiconductor process technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with circuit simulation and analysis; familiarity with EDA environments and Linux-based workflows.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with RF simulation concepts (HB, PSS, QPSS and derivatives).
  • Exposure to analog verification methodologies and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as SKILL, Python, or TCL.
  • Familiarity with custom design flows involving layout, extraction, LVS, and DRC.
  • Experience supporting advanced-node design projects.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
