Job Title

Application Engineer II: Analog IC Design and Simulation

Role Summary

Work as part of the Global Customer Success (GCS) team in Belo Horizonte to support customers using Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre simulation tools for analog, mixed-signal, and RF design flows. The role focuses on debugging circuit behavior, improving customer productivity, and contributing technical content and automation to increase tool adoption.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically 2–5 years of relevant experience in analog, mixed-signal or RF design and simulation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical customer support, collaboration, and content development.

  • Support customers using Virtuoso for schematic capture/layout and Spectre/SpectreRF/AMS simulators to debug circuit behavior and convergence issues.
  • Apply best practices in analog design flows: schematic-driven layout, layout-dependent effects, and simulation setup.
  • Analyze simulation results for DC, transient, AC, and noise analyses and advise on fixes.
  • Reproduce issues with R&D and field teams, test solutions, and escalate product problems as needed.
  • Produce technical documentation, examples, and knowledge-base content to improve customer self-service.
  • Develop custom solutions and automation using scripting and tool capabilities where applicable.
  • Share best practices within the team and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional abilities.

  • 2–5 years of experience in analog, mixed-signal, or RF design and simulation.
  • Strong understanding of analog electronics: circuits, CMOS device operation, feedback, noise, mismatch, and semiconductor process technologies.
  • Practical experience with circuit simulation and EDA environments; familiarity with Linux-based workflows.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with RF simulation concepts (HB, PSS, QPSS and derivatives).
  • Exposure to analog verification methodologies and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as SKILL, Python, or TCL.
  • Familiarity with custom design flows: layout, extraction, LVS, and DRC.
  • Experience supporting advanced-node design projects.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
