Application Engineer I: Systems Verification - Emulation

Role Summary

Join the Hardware Systems Verification (HSV) group within the System & Verification Group to support customers deploying hardware emulation and prototyping solutions. The role focuses on Cadence emulation products (Palladium, Protium) and associated toolchains.

Work involves customer-facing technical support, root-cause analysis, and recommending methodologies to enable customers to integrate and debug large-scale RTL and SoC verification flows.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Engineer I). No specific years-of-experience requirement stated.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include customer support, solution guidance, and technical troubleshooting related to hardware emulation and prototyping.

  • Provide technical support to customers deploying emulation and prototyping products.
  • Work with customers to identify requirements and recommend appropriate verification methodologies and tools.
  • Troubleshoot and debug RTL/design, emulation setups, and integration issues.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to escalate and resolve product issues.
  • Develop and document reproducible test cases, workflows, and best practices for customer use.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and communication abilities required for the role.

  • Understanding of RTL design and coding (Verilog, VHDL).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to debug complex verification issues.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Unix and C/C++.
  • Knowledge of architecture, micro-architecture, HDL synthesis, and timing.
  • Verification skills (UVM, SystemVerilog, SVA) and testbench development/debugging.
  • Experience with FPGA implementation and debugging.
  • Familiarity with embedded software development and HW/SW co-design.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, Python, TCL, Bash, etc.).

Education Requirements

Complete Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
