Application Engineer – Ethernet Products

Role Summary

Provide application support and system solutions for automotive Ethernet switch and physical layer products. Work with field application teams, sales, customers and internal partners to develop reference designs, troubleshoot systems, and deliver technical documentation and demonstrations.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer support, solution development and technical enablement for in-vehicle networking using Ethernet products.

  • Provide customer application support for Ethernet switch and PHY products used in In-Vehicle Networks (IVN).
  • Respond to technical questions, perform code and schematic reviews, and reproduce/verify customer-reported issues.
  • On-site debugging and troubleshooting of software and hardware problems when required.
  • Develop reference designs, product demonstrators and system solution packages in cooperation with internal teams and third parties.
  • Create customer-facing technical documents: application notes, white papers, FAQs, and training materials.
  • Contribute to trainings, workshops, conferences and trade fairs to support product adoption and thought leadership.
  • Support security-related tasks that may be in scope of security certifications and controlled processes.

Requirements

Key technical skills, practical experience, and personal attributes required for the role.

  • Must-have: Practical experience in hardware and embedded software development using automotive semiconductors and electronics.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with Ethernet switches, Ethernet PHYs, and embedded microcontrollers.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with Ethernet network implementations and debugging network issues.
  • Must-have: Embedded software skills: C/C++, low-level drivers, real-time operating systems.
  • Must-have: Proven problem-solving and debugging capabilities; some customer-facing experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with high-speed PCB design and layout.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of the automotive market and automotive applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, collaborative cross-cultural mindset, ability to work independently and learn quickly. Fluent English required.

Education Requirements

University degree in Electronics, Communications, Computer Science or a similar technical field.
