Application Engineer (Calibre OPC)

Role Summary

Join Siemens EDA's application engineering team in Hsinchu to support customers using Calibre OPC and related verification flows. The role focuses on technical evaluations, troubleshooting, demonstrations, and building long-term technical relationships with foundries and customers.

This is a hybrid, customer-facing position that works closely with product development, field engineers, and partners to translate customer requirements into Calibre solutions and roadmap inputs.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early-career β€” typically 1–3 years of experience in the semiconductor industry is expected.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical support, evaluations, and customer enablement for Calibre OPC solutions.

  • Support Calibre tool evaluations, competitive benchmarking, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain technical relationships with TSMC and other partners to support customers.
  • Collect, prioritize, and communicate customers' technical requirements and use cases to product teams.
  • Test and characterize Calibre features; provide recommendations and feedback to product development.
  • Coordinate priorities and adjust support based on changing customer environments.
  • Prepare and deliver product demonstrations, trainings, and presentations to customers and field engineers.

Requirements

Required and preferred skills for successful candidates.

Must-have

  • 1–3 years of semiconductor industry experience, with understanding of IC fabrication from design to manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience in post-tapeout flows using leading EDA tools.
  • Proficiency with scripting in UNIX/Linux environments (Tcl/Tk, Python, or equivalent).
  • Fluent English and Mandarin communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Calibre DRC, RET, OPC or lithography solutions.
  • Familiarity with SVRF rule languages or C/C++ programming.

Education Requirements

M.S. degree or equivalent practical experience in Electro-physics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; the posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of the degree.
