Android Software Engineer (RDSS Intern)
Role Summary
Work on Android platform bring-up, integration, and maintenance for NVIDIA hardware. The role focuses on system-level debugging, enabling platform features, automated validation, and applying AI-assisted engineering workflows to improve software quality.
This position is part of NVIDIA's RDSS intern program and collaborates with cross-functional firmware, kernel, and application teams to deliver production-quality Android releases.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Suitable for students or recent graduates; no specific years of professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities include:
- Bring up, integrate, and upgrade Android OS releases on NVIDIA hardware platforms.
- Debug system-level issues across the Android framework, native user space, BSP, kernel, boot, and build environments.
- Enable and validate platform features; resolve Android compatibility and certification failures.
- Develop automated validation, functional tests, and post-fix smoke-test workflows.
- Apply and improve AI-assisted workflows for issue triage, debugging, testing, and code review.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, production-quality Android software.
Requirements
Core technical skills and attributes expected.
- Must-have: Strong programming skills in C, C++, or Java.
- Working knowledge of Python, shell scripting, or similar automation languages.
- Solid understanding of operating-system fundamentals and system-level debugging.
- Strong analytical problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred (nice-to-have):
- Experience with AOSP, Android framework internals, native services, HALs, Linux kernel, or BSP development.
- Experience with Android OS bring-up, upgrades, rebases, system-level debugging, certification, or reproducible test flows.
- Familiarity with Android build systems, Git, Gerrit, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Experience developing AI-agent infrastructure or LLM-assisted software-engineering workflows.
Education Requirements
Master’s degree or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
