Analyst, Algorithm Research & Development

Role Summary

Design and implement machine learning, statistical analytics, deep learning, computer vision, and agentic AI solutions for semiconductor manufacturing and engineering workflows. Work within the Measurement, Analytics and Control (MACH) group to deliver production-quality AI services that improve defect detection, yield analytics, and engineering productivity.

Independent contributor who leads small-to-medium technical initiatives and collaborates with software, algorithms, systems, data science, and product teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience: roughly 3–7 years. Role aligns with the company's P3 AI Engineering expectations.

Responsibilities

Deliver end-to-end AI and software solutions across model development, deployment, and integration.

• Design and implement ML solutions for classification, regression, clustering, anomaly detection, and forecasting.
• Develop statistical models (hypothesis testing, regression, Bayesian methods, PCA, time-series analysis, DOE) and evaluate model performance.
• Build and optimize deep learning and computer vision models (classification, segmentation, detection, feature extraction) using PyTorch, TensorFlow, and ONNX.
• Develop agentic AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and integrations between LLMs and engineering data/workflows.
• Implement production-quality software in C++ and Python; develop reusable libraries, APIs, and services; optimize for performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with product, application, algorithm, and systems teams; participate in feasibility studies; support deployment, validation, and customer adoption.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Formal degree expectations are listed under Education Requirements.

• Strong proficiency in Python and modern C++ (C++14/17/20); solid software engineering practices and participation in code/design reviews.
• Experience with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and multithreaded programming.
• Proven experience designing and deploying ML models (tree ensembles, gradient boosting, clustering, anomaly detection) with proper model evaluation and validation.
• Hands-on deep learning experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, including CNNs and transformer-based models for vision tasks.
• Practical statistical analytics skills: probability, statistical inference, experimental design, feature engineering, and data validation.
• Experience integrating LLMs and building RAG systems, tool-calling agents, and workflow orchestration; familiarity with agent frameworks is beneficial.
• Experience working with large-scale manufacturing or engineering datasets and image-processing pipelines.
• Nice-to-have: semiconductor manufacturing or yield/defect analytics experience; familiarity with vector databases, knowledge graphs, Ray, Spark, Kubernetes, and Docker.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent practical experience.
