Analog Senior or Staff Design Engineer
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Analog Senior or Staff Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design, integrate, and optimize custom test circuit architectures for NAND flash memory, including transistor-level analog, digital, mixed-signal, monitoring, control, and memory-array interface circuits. Work with layout, product engineering, and test teams to bring designs to silicon and ramp to production.
Experience Level
Senior / Staff level. The posting specifies a bachelor's or master's degree plus at least 2 years of relevant experience; title indicates a senior role.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define circuit functionality, interfaces, operating limits, controllability, observability, and validation criteria from product specifications and test requirements.
- Create, review, and optimize schematics, device sizing, bias structures, sensing/monitoring paths, and multiplexers for test circuits.
- Analyze testability and robustness to meet quality, coverage, manufacturability, power, area, and reliability targets.
- Validate custom test circuits using XA (or equivalent) transistor-level simulation, Verilog simulation, and mixed-signal validation environments.
- Collaborate with layout teams on matching, parasitic sensitivity, shielding, routing, guard rings, device placement, and layout-dependent effects; review post-layout results and drive closure.
- Assess circuit risks (leakage, contention, floating nodes, overstress, power sequencing, current density, EM/IR, long-duration stress) and propose mitigations.
- Develop and debug test sequences and test modes for wafer- and package-level control, observation, characterization, and validation.
- Support first-silicon bring-up, debug, characterization, failure isolation, simulation-to-silicon correlation, and transfer to high-volume production with Product Engineering.
- Use lab measurements and silicon data to identify root causes and recommend circuit, test-mode, characterization, or screening improvements.
- Apply a Design+AI approach: employ AI-assisted and agentic workflows for circuit review, simulation triage, waveform analysis, root-cause investigation, automation, and documentation.
- Develop Python or script-based automation and AI-enabled tools to improve design quality, reduce turnaround time, and increase engineering productivity.
- Document methodologies, specifications, design decisions, validation results, silicon correlation, and technical recommendations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience in custom/analog circuit design, mixed-signal design, memory peripheral/test-circuit design, or product engineering with strong transistor-level circuit and silicon-debug exposure.
- Deep understanding of CMOS device behavior, transistor-level circuit design, leakage mechanisms, parasitics, PVT sensitivity, timing, loading, noise margin, power, and reliability.
- Practical skills in circuit entry, waveform debug, and post-layout verification.
- Proficiency with XA or equivalent fast transistor-level simulation tools, Verilog, and mixed-signal validation methodologies.
- Proficiency in Python and scripting for simulation automation, regression analysis, result extraction, and waveform processing.
- Ability to identify and implement AI-enabled engineering workflows, develop or adapt AI solutions, and apply appropriate technical review and data protection practices.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills for cross-functional and global collaboration.
Nice-to-have:
- Practical lab experience with oscilloscopes, logic or signal analyzers, source-measure units, function generators, and hands-on wafer/package silicon testing.
- Familiarity with NAND flash architecture, test modes, peripheral circuits, internal signal access, and wafer/package test considerations.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting specifies at least 2 years of relevant practical experience.
