Analog Mixed Signal/Power Management Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Analog Mixed Signal/Power Management Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design, verify and document CMOS mixed-signal analog/digital blocks (data converters, PLLs, filters, LDOs, switching regulators, charge pumps, precision references, sensor front-ends, audio amplifiers). Work on architecture, circuit design, simulation, layout oversight and silicon evaluation within the Analog Mixed Signal Design team to meet system-level power, performance and functionality targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Requires multiple years of hands-on analog/mixed-signal IC design and verification experience; specific minimums vary by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define architecture and circuit specifications from system requirements and perform system- and circuit-level simulation.
- Design and simulate analog/mixed-signal circuits and blocks; run complex analyses (power, performance, functionality).
- Define verification plans for portions of IP or chips and execute simulations and analyses to validate designs.
- Oversee block-level layout and coordinate with layout teams; support silicon bring-up and evaluation.
- Design, program, and run bench/ATE tests; analyze results and drive issue resolution.
- Document designs and test results; produce clear technical descriptions and design reviews.
- Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders and vendors to align implementation with requirements.
Requirements
Minimum technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.
- Proven track record in analog/mixed-signal IC design and verification in CMOS/FinFET/BCD processes.
- Experience using industry tools such as Cadence (ADE), SPICE, MATLAB; familiarity with Verilog or VHDL is a plus.
- Ability to create and run complex simulations and analyses and to translate results into design improvements.
- Experience with silicon bring-up, lab and ATE testing, and troubleshooting post-silicon issues.
- Experience overseeing layout and working with layout teams to achieve design goals.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills; ability to produce detailed documentation and present results.
- Independent worker who can provide guidance to others and coordinate cross-functional work.
- Nice to have: domain experience in VCO/PLL/DLL, ADC/DACs, audio codecs/class-D amplifiers, high-output-power switching regulators, charge pumps, or analog design automation.
- Nice to have: prior experience interacting with senior leadership.
Education Requirements
Degree requirements appear multiple ways in the source: Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field are referenced with varying experience minimums. Examples given include: Bachelor’s + multiple years of analog/mixed-signal IC design experience (varies by posting clause), Master’s with fewer years required than a Bachelor’s in some clauses, or PhD with the lowest stated experience minimums. The posting also repeatedly allows related work experience in lieu of a specific degree. (No certifications were specified.)
