Job Title
Analog Mixed-Signal IC Designer
Role Summary
Design analog and mixed-signal (AMS) circuits for next-generation Apple SoCs used in mobile products. Work within the Silicon Engineering team on feasibility, circuit design, simulation, verification, layout interaction, and lab/production testing.
Apple values diversity and equal opportunity in hiring.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typically requires 3+ years of relevant AMS IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver AMS IC blocks from concept through production support. Key responsibilities include:
- Perform feasibility studies and architecture trade-offs for AMS blocks.
- Design and simulate analog/mixed-signal circuits (bandgap, bias, LDOs, amplifiers, comparators, ADCs/DACs, PLLs/oscillators, filters).
- Develop and run pre- and post-layout simulations and verification flows.
- Collaborate with layout engineers on physical implementation and timing/power closure.
- Participate in lab bring-up, characterization, debug, and production validation.
- Work with digital designers on high-speed serial interfaces and mixed-signal integration.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven analog and mixed-signal IC design experience, including high-speed serial link design.
- Strong knowledge of AMS concepts: mismatch mitigation, linearity, stability, low-noise, and low-power techniques.
- Hands-on experience with circuit-level simulation tools and analysis flows (e.g., SPICE).
- Experience with advanced CMOS process technologies and high-speed digital circuits.
- Experience with lab testing, characterization, and production validation.
- Effective communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Layout-aware design experience and post-layout verification skills.
- Prior work on SoC AMS blocks for mobile products.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with at least 3 years of related experience, or a PhD in a relevant technical field (electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or related disciplines).
