Job Title
Analog Mixed-Signal IC Designer
Role Summary
Design and validate analog and mixed-signal (AMS) circuits for next-generation system-on-chip (SoC) products. Work with a silicon engineering team to develop AMS building blocks and high-speed serial interfaces used in consumer devices.
Tasks include feasibility studies, circuit-level simulation and verification, physical layout and post-layout simulation, and support for production lab bring-up and testing.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typically requires roughly 3+ years of relevant AMS IC design experience; candidates with a PhD are also considered.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and production support for analog and mixed-signal blocks.
- Architect, simulate, and implement AMS circuits and blocks (bandgap, bias, LDOs, amplifiers, comparators, ADCs/DACs, PLLs, oscillators, filters).
- Design and optimize high-speed serial link interfaces and supporting analog front-ends.
- Perform feasibility studies, behavioral and transistor-level simulations, and corner/cross-talk analysis.
- Produce and review layout, run parasitic extraction, and perform post-layout simulation and timing verification.
- Collaborate with digital design, process, and test teams to integrate analog blocks into SoCs.
- Support lab testing, silicon bring-up, characterization, and production qualification.
- Document design decisions, test plans, and verification results; participate in design reviews.
Requirements
Skills and experience expected for successful performance in this role.
-
Must-have: Strong practical experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design, including hands-on circuit simulation and verification.
-
Must-have: Experience designing high-speed serial links and related analog interfaces.
-
Must-have: Expertise with AMS design concepts: mismatch mitigation, linearity, stability, low-power and low-noise techniques.
-
Must-have: Proficiency with transistor-level simulation tools and flows for pre- and post-layout verification.
-
Must-have: Experience with layout-aware design and post-layout validation.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with advanced CMOS technologies and ability to work with high-speed digital circuits and SoC integration teams.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with mobile SoCs, low-power design for battery-operated devices, or prior silicon bring-up/testing in production labs.
-
Nice-to-have: Scripting/automation skills for simulation flows and familiarity with EDA toolchains.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with at least 3 years of related AMS IC design experience, or a PhD in a relevant field.
