Job Title

Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Work on a mixed-signal IC design team within Acacia to architect, design, layout, characterize, and productize high-speed CMOS analog/mixed-signal circuits for optical transceivers. Collaborate with digital/DSP, package, system, and module teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.

This role focuses on high-performance AMS designs for 100G–1.6T+ optical transmission products.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical hires meet one of: Bachelor’s + 8 years, Master’s + 6 years, or PhD + 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver complex high-speed AMS blocks from specification through production and lead engineering efforts.

  • Architect, design, simulate, and verify high-speed analog/mixed-signal IC blocks (serdes, drivers, PLLs, op-amps/PGA, equalizers).
  • Lead a large block on complex chips; manage deliverables, mentor team members, and participate in peer reviews.
  • Perform and coordinate high-frequency layout and floorplanning to meet signal and power integrity goals.
  • Collaborate with packaging, hardware, and system teams to ensure electrical and thermal requirements are achieved.
  • Plan and execute laboratory validation, build test setups, and characterize devices across process, voltage, and temperature (PVT).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and demonstrated experience.

  • Design, simulation, and measurement experience with high-speed ICs; practical experience in at least three areas such as serializers/deserializers and data converters; high-performance output drivers; PLLs; clock distribution; op-amps/PGA; equalization techniques; or system link modeling.
  • High-frequency layout experience, including floorplanning for mixed-signal chips and routing of power/ground and analog/digital signals.
  • Laboratory validation experience, including ESD practices and construction of test setups for device characterization.
  • Proficiency with mixed-signal design and simulation tools (for example, Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Calibre, EMX, AMS simulations, Matlab).
  • Proven ability to lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and deliver designs to production.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with FinFET and GAA process technologies.
  • Experience in electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications).
  • Design-for-manufacturability experience: electromigration analysis, self-heating, IR drop, and characterization over PVT.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree + 8 years, Master’s degree + 6 years, or PhD + 3 years of related experience; or equivalent practical experience. No specific field-of-study was specified in the posting.
